Assessing Workforce Competency and Skills Readiness for AI-Assisted Public Governance

Abstract
The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into people’s governance requires a competent workforce capable of utilizing new technologies efficiently. This work evaluates employees’ current competencies and preparedness for AI-assisted governance in the public sector, identifying essential gaps that could complicate successful implementation. The study measures the technical, analytical, and decision-making abilities required to adopt AI using a mixed-methods approach, a survey, and a competency assessment. The results point to substantial differences in AI literacy and practical preparation, underscoring the need for specialized training programs and policy interventions. The paper will offer practical suggestions to increase workforce readiness, enabling public institutions to use AI to deliver efficient, transparent, and responsive governance.
